We can be United even while we're apart. Here's how.
Right now it's easy to feel isolated. But even though we're apart, we are United. We are still a community. We are a community that is full of hand-raisers and doers. One full of people who are strong, compassionate, generous, and full of resolve. We know that if we come together, we'll get through this and be stronger on the other side. We know this because we've seen the power of community. The power of THIS community.
United Way of West Florida has served Escambia County, and now Santa Rosa County, for 96 years. During that time, we have seen the community face and survive many crises. We have made it through hurricanes, floods, tornados, financial downturns, and other hardships by working together, supporting each other, and creating innovative solutions to old problems. And we will overcome this difficult time, too.
During the last two months, this power of community has been on full display as our friends and neighbors respond to the COVID-19 outbreak. Businesses, nonprofit partners, and individuals have all answered the call for help. Whether it was Gulf Power Company, Florida Blue, Beach Community Bank, and Navy Federal Credit Union donating large corporate donations to kickstart the COVID-19 Response Fund; or the Harpers, longtime UWWF volunteers, donating their Economic Impact Payment to help our community we have seen how acts of kindness big and small create change.
But though there is much to celebrate, many more people still need help. So we are asking people in the community, like you, to do what you always do - come together and give.
A Worldwide Day of Giving and Unity
To add power to this moment, we are asking you to give on May 5 during #GivingTuesdayNow, a special worldwide event. On this first Tuesday of May, thousands of people and organizations around the world will be coming together in acts of unity and giving as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

If you are looking for a way to give back and safely connect to your community again, we ask you to donate during #GivingTuesdayNow. When you give to UWWF's COVID-19 Response Fund on or before May 5, your full donation will be directed to neighbors who have been impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak.
